'This project started with my discovery of the book "Screen Lovers" by Anne Billson, (Conran Octopus/St Martin's Press, 1988). The images within the book's pages are of romantic, sexually charged film stills throughout movie history. As I looked through them, I really wanted to see them come together, touch lips, make love, whatever comes next, so I followed my instinct and started folding them into one another' - Eli Craven

One of the best films of our time has to be Paris, Texas by Wim Wenders. Written in the West is a series of images Wenders shot in 1983 while looking for subject and locations for the film. Driving through Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California, he was captivated by the unique, saturated, colourful light of the vast wild landscape of the American West.
The series was 1st exhibited in 1986 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and later published as this book in 2000.
Strangely, even though the film takes its name from a sleepy town of Paris, Texas, no footage was ever actually shot there.

The only thing better than a Wes Anderson movie is a Wes Anderson colour palette. Everything in a Wes Anderson movie is so detailed: every prop and every costume in every shot looks exactly the way it looks for a reason. The colours in his movies are no different: they always highlight or draw attention to something, and always come together on screen in a harmony that it so easy to watch. We stumbled on Wes Anderson Palettes today - a site that draws out the key colours in a Wes Anderson scene and matches it with a line of dialogue - and pored over some of their selections. We loved the blue and pink Mendl's boxes from The Grand Budapest Hotel, Margot lighting her cigarette in The Royal Tenenbaums and Steve about to set off in search of the killer shark in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
Parisian girls just do it better, and Léa is definitely hitting the high notes. At 28 she has been in the acting game for a while with her 'don't give a f*$%k' attitude giving just the right amount of allure and mystery. The fact she is not afraid to play very different characters confirms she won't be type cast any time soon. Watch her play the muse of Yves Saint Laurent Loulou de la Falasie, in the 'other' unapproved bio pic, Saint Laurent, scheduled for released in October this year.
One of our favourite reads. Simple, beautiful, clean and concise in design; The Travel Almanac is more of a book then magazine as its timeless content deserves to be preserved on the book shelf for future reads. With interviews at its core, Editor Paul Kominek had this to say about the content philosophy in an interview with Stack Magazines -
"Lets just speak to people that we love - cultural icons who are really interesting - but let's talk to them about subjects they aren't asked about constantly. This is why our interviews with those well-known personalities usually are much more personal and intimate than the average interview. Travelling habits and experiences say a lot about a person and are at the same time very universal and thus make for a great way to break the ice in a conversation."
